potluck!

yes i havent blogged in awhile... i've been buried under my many assignments and i decided its time for some updates!

yesterday some (okay quite a few, there were 14!) of us came together for potluck! (:

my lovely dent friends: (in the back row, clockwise) me, eugene, see hwee, teck, jessie, sufei, jac, darren, chinhowe, heng, lyn, esther, evelyn and jon (: \

in no order of yummi-ness (all were pretty good!)

and the eggs that came with it.


heng: curry vegetables


darren, lyn and jac: mixed veg with dong fen!


chinhowe: this was the sauce that went over the pan fried tofu.


eugene: according to him, his signature dish, stir fried chicken something haha.


eugene: stir fried chicken with mushrooms


jessie: satay chicken with mushrooms


jonathan and evelyn: tom yam soup

dessert time!

darren, lyn and jac: apparently darren's secret recipe there was jackfruit, sea coconut, lemon, honey and quail eggs. nice!


didnt eat the quail eggs though. i used to love them when i was a kid! and i always told my parents i wanted to eat stomach-eggs dont ask me why! heh.

teck: assorted fruits, apples, strawberries, kiwis, pineapples, oranges, honeydew and peaches.

and my banana caramel pie! (:




because chunnie wants to steal my recipe (it wasnt much of a recipe really :x but we shall think otherwise!)


how i made my banana caramel pie:

the ingredients: caramel, cream, butter, shortbread, digestive biscuits, and bananas! so simple!



firstly, mash up the shortbread and digestive biscuits. estimate the ratio you want (:



after its all mashed up (:


add some butter of course i used minimal! healthy okay!


set it as the pie base of a foil container.


cut up the bananas and place them nicely: i put in quite alot cause i love them!

realised i forgot to take a photo of the caramel layer when i was putting the cream so here's what was left of it!

and voila! my banana caramel pie. leave it in the fridge to stand and its ready to serve! i left it in the freezer for awhile to let the cream set (:


just on tuesday we decided we shld bake some muffins!

this was the cake that see hwee baked well it does look pretty good eh?

we thought it looked kinda plain so we added strawberries and chocolate chips. amateur bakers we are!

and chin howe and me made muffins. they were disappointing ):

this was the best looking one!


there was some left over icing from the cake so i decided to decorate the muffin. doesnt look too bad eh? *beams

and i tried making my own yoghurt as in i bought plain yoghurt from the supermarket and added bananas, strawberries and crushed nuts. but the yoghurt was gross so it wasnt that great! :x


we've been having yum cha for the past 2 weekends and these photos were taken at dinghao the better of the two! (:

tea duck. it was pretty good! reminds me that i wanna eat peking duck and roast goose. mmm!

har gao! a must have at every yum cha session (:

another must: siew mai

i forgot what it's called but its glutinous rice rolls with beef. nice! loved the one with prawns.

squid. it was pretty good (:

and of course my fave: char siew bao! we also had many other dishes but by then i was too hungry to take photos so heh maybe nxt time! hee.
my dim sum dollies we must go yum cha in the afternoon yeah! not at night! haha.
