my craving

has been satisfied! ((: and what was it? you'll have to get through my updates for the previous weeks first!

just last saturday i had this craving for lamb i think its cause spring's here? i have no idea why heh. but anyhoo we made lamb for dinner! (: though the cutlets we bought were mostly bones and fat.. we were glad we had baked potatoes, corn and garlic bread to fill up our plates! (:

on sunday we were invited to lunch with sharyn's family (she visited singapore during the jul hols). it was fun! though i had to travel quite far.. walked to the railway station, took the train for about 45 mins and she came to fetch me and darren by car at the station. but it was worth it i think!

what greeted me when i walked into the backyard.

the fruit trees that they grow. tried their grapefruits and it was pretty good (:

and thats eve, jon's gf; sharyn and jon. eve was muching on the nibbles that they provided. basically its chips, crackers and this delish pineapple cream cheese dip and cheese with sundried tomatoes and almonds.

there were also these dried apricots which they made by themselves! cause they have an apricot tree as well (:

and after waiting for awhile lunch was served! we were spposed to be really hungry but we cldnt stop nibbling on the finger food.

this was what i took just to try cause i wasnt very hungry by then: roasted potatoes, beans, parsips ( i dont know what they are actually but they were good! so glad i tried it ), pumpkins ( i went back for more hee ), brocoli and beans again. and it was barbequed lamb with mint sauce on the right and pork with apple sauce on the left.

and this was jon's plate! he piled it up (:

and we sat around and dessert came! we were such pigs that day omg.

from the top left clockwise: banana caramel pie ( it was that which inspired me to try my own ), apple pie, and pavlova. mmm the pav was really good its like this crispy outer layer with a soft fluffy inner layer with cream and strawberries. darren was so taken with it he asked grandma for the recipe!

it was a good afternoon!

and last night we celebrated stephen's bday at hog's breath.

esther's sister, alison, vicky, camy, cory, big jon, esther and of course stephen. dont forget the cake on the table!

there're more of us! eugene, jon, eve, camay, me, stephen, kerhong and chinhowe. kinda blurry though.

and stephen cutting his bday cake! he just cut his hair and he claims its too short to be seen so he's been wearing that beanie haha.

oh not these but dont they look pretty! cornflakes crunchies i shall call them (: its just cornflakes with melted chocolate thrown into the oven for about 10 mins. easy and yummy!

and ah hah i was preparing for the cupcakes! can you guess already? we had no grater so i had to peel the carrot skin, the carrot and then chop up the slices to make it fine.

thanks to the recipe alison's mom sent her: the carrot cake cupcakes ( it was actually for a cake but we improvised and made it easy for everyone to eat by making it into cupcake size )

after being in the oven for about 20 mins. that hole is cause we didnt have a skewer and i used a chopstick to check if it was cooked. heh.

and me and alison obviously smiling about the cupcakes. we werent sure how it wld turn out though. just happy (: so i tried it afterwards we chucked it into the fridge to let the frosting solidify. i really liked it cause we made it chunky. mmm!

you know what? its been 2 weeks since the end of term break.. cant believe that time is passing so terribly quick! and 2007 seems to be coming to an end i see many christmas promotions coming up everywhere.

i'll be home soon! just need to get through exams. and i will! (:

happy little kids

we are! or at least i feel like one *beams i stumbled upon this blog that day and showed it to alison, and since she's like my partner in crime when it comes to trying out dishes and sweets, we immediately decided that we had to make our very own tim tam truffles!

adapted from this particular recipe:

the seemingly you-wldnt-take-a-second-look blob of tim tams and cheese

and our melted cadbury chocolate

and after hiding nuts in the tim-tams-and-cheese mix, coating it with a layer of chocolate, dropping it into a bowl of cocoa puffs and leaving it in the fridge for awhile, we have our own tim tam truffles!

its really yummilicious! and i think you can tell that im really happy abt it haha.

maybe we'll try sth new nxt week yay (:

its really upsetting

that my term break is over.. it means exams are just round the corner *peeks hesitantly but i shall look forward to it being over cause that means i get to go home! ((:

my dent (*cough alcoholics) friends joined a winery tour to barossa valley and lets just say they didnt come back very sober. me and chinhowe met two of them jon and joe for dinner and dinghao.

and since joe was in the mood for more drinks we went to escobar, this new and posh bar where they actually have a formal dress code.

went to check out their toilet: it was pretty (:

we each had a cocktail except joe. who had two. that's my strawberry daiquiri ( i insisted on it even though it wasnt on the menu and it tasted like strawberry jam eew ) and chin howe's rose royce martini. sounds nice but tasted erm not very nice.

joe's toblerone was good though. but i now have this adverse reaction to liquor taste so i didnt like it that much.

and that's me settling in comfortably too.

its a nice place to visit though i dont think we shld attempt going back anytime soon. aranan stole the thingie that they use to put the bill in so they need some time to forget us!

and last night, being very domesticated, we made lasagne.

*smug face me and alison felt rather proud of ourselves we realised that we're good cooking buddies! (:

i just had yumcha with lyn, jon, chinhowe, eugene and teck and im feeling very satisfied and sleepy. so i might just nap for awhile for doing work :p

maybe i'll actually be a domestic goddess when i go home. i just need a genie to ~~clean up the mess that i make~~ help me. any takers? *flutters eyelashes*

oops!

i havent been here in awhile aye? well here i am with updates! its my term break now and weirdly i've been feeling rather domesticated so we've been cooking and baking (:

wanted to try oreo cheesecake cause of someone's suggestion... and anyway tiramisu is impossible! :p

the mess we made!

the cookies i dont like the cream so i had to scrape them out. somehow the ones in spore come off much easier!

both alison and me didnt like the cream so in the end we had to throw it away. my bro wld have loved it!

the crust! im so proud of the oreo one i made it level with the sides too! took me ages though :x

our chocolate cheesecake: we were so afraid to try the swirls in case it looked horrible but it turned out alright! alison got to swirl first hee.

since it's term break we have time to cook! before this they made laksa while i had asian food with my cousin-in-law (:

making pizza: see our entres? the corn and the garlic bread. i didnt wanna bite so i cut it up and put it into a bowl *beams

into the oven we go!

the one with chilli and onions. that was all i cld taste initially! and i bit on a seed and turned red immediately :x

then we had fish curry and friday we had mashed potatoes, carbonara and risotto!

chunky mashed potatoes with gravy: chunky cause it was too tiring to make it smooth heh.

and i wld really like to say that the risotto was so nice that we gobbled it up and i didnt get a chance to take a photo. but the truth is i took soooooo long to cook it by the time it was done i was kinda frustrated and didnt feel like taking any photos. it was alright though. first attempt!

mini road trip!

woke up at like 9 to drive to mclaren vale: camy's mom drove me camy alison cory and vicky. we made egg salad sandwiches and packed honeydew and oranges for brekkie. domesticated or what?

the almond and olive train: there were abt 30 types of almonds to try!

me and camy: we went off to this olive tasting place and we found llamas. why are they spelled with a double l?

there you go the obligatory scenic photo. now you cant say i dont take such photos! not particularly spectacular yeah? this was at one of the wineries and the manager gave us a tour around the place.

so we tried well i tried being more dramatic.

then we drove for about 45 mins to port elliot, desiree's mom cafe is there for authentic sporean food (:

there wont be any more photos cause the screen of my camera broke ): it dropped onto the ground by accident sobs so i suppose i'll just have to use my phone from now on. upset!
